Sluman gets second Champions win at Pebble

Weir atop big name field in Boston

Mike Weir holed a 5-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole for a 4-under 67 to take a one-stroke lead Sunday in the Deutsche Bank Championship, leaving him in a familiar position with hopes of a better outcome. It was the 10th time the Canadian has had at least a share of the 54-hole lead on the PGA Tour, but he has only one victory when leading going into the final round. Protecting this one might be the toughest yet.

Poulter, Casey chosen as wild cards for Ryder Cup

Ian Poulter and Paul Casey have been chosen as wild-card picks for Europe's Ryder Cup team. Europe captain Nick Faldo made his announcement Sunday shortly after the end of the Johnnie Walker Championship. Oliver Wilson clinched the 10th and final automatic spot by finishing in a tie for 10th place at Gleneagles on Sunday, while Justin Rose and Soren Hansen also qualified to make their debuts at the competition.

Wilson clinches spot at Ryder Cup; Havret wins

Oliver Wilson clinched Europe's 10th and final automatic Ryder Cup spot Sunday by finishing 10th at the Johnnie Walker Championship won by Gregory Havret. Wilson shot a 4-under 69 to leave Nick Dougherty needing a victory to have a chance to make the team for the Sept. 19-21 tournament against the United States at Valhalla in Kentucky. Dougherty (70) bogeyed three of the first six holes before recovering with six birdies for a share of seventh place.

Tim Clark needed only one birdie over his final two holes to shoot 59. He finished with consecutive bogeys and had to settle for a one-shot lead Saturday in the Deutsche Bank Championship. He still matched his career low with a 9-under 62 on soft and vulnerable TPC Boston, giving him a one-shot lead over Mike Weir of Canada at the halfway point of the PGA Tour's second playoff event.
