Former U.S. PGA Championship winners Davis Love III and Rich Beem qualified for the British Open on Monday, but Steve Elkington, winner of the 1995 American PGA Championship, bogeyed his final two holes and fell short.
Jeff Overton won the first North American qualifying section at the TPC of Michigan, shooting a 14-under 130 over 36 holes.
"I've never made it into a major, so I'm incredibly excited," the 25-year-old Overton said.

Two-time Masters champion Jose Maria Olazabal failed to qualify for the British Open on Monday when he took bogey on the third hole of a playoff.
Darren Clarke, slowly returning after coping with the death of his wife two years ago, also failed to earn a spot at Royal Birkdale in the 36-hole qualifier for European Tour players at Sunningdale.
Simon Wakefield of England and Ariel Canete of Argentina were co-medalists at 133 to lead 18 players who qualified.

Tiger Woods does not know when he can play golf again, but he said Monday his rebuilt left knee has been sore his entire PGA Tour career and he looks forward to playing on two good legs.
"My left knee has been sore for 10 to 12 years," Woods said during a conference call for his AT&T National tournament, his first public comments since reconstructive surgery last Tuesday. "It will be nice to finally have a healthy leg.

Kenny Perry joined a short list of multiple champions at the 50th Buick Open.
Perry shot a 6-under 66 on Sunday to finish at 19-under 269, one shot better than Woody Austin, who blew the tournament and $900,000 by bogeying the last two holes, and Bubba Watson, who missed a 12-footer on the final green.
Vijay Singh has three victories at Warwick Hills, while Tiger Woods, Julius Boros, Tony Lema and now Perry have won twice.

Loren Roberts shot a 3-under 68 on Sunday to cap a wire-to-wire, one-stroke victory in the Commerce Bank Championship, his first Champions Tour win of the year.
Roberts had three second-place finishes this year, including last week to Jeff Sluman, but his 12-under 201 total gave him his eighth Champions Tour title, matching his total from his PGA Tour career.
He earned the winner's share of $240,000 from the $1.6 million purse in the event he finished second in last year. Read the Full Story Here

Spanish rookie Pablo Larrazabal won the French Open for his first European Tour victory Sunday, closing with a 4-under-par 67 to finish four strokes ahead of Colin Montgomerie.
Larrazabal, who had to qualify for this event, completed his four rounds in 15-under 269. Montgomerie shot a 68 and ended one stroke in front of Soren Hansen.

Daniel Chopra took advantage of an opportunity to build a cushion in the Buick Open.
Chopra birdied the last hole Saturday after Dudley Hart bogeyed it, giving the Swede a two-shot lead with one round left at Warwick Hills
Chopra made a 15-foot (4.57-meter) putt to close the third round at 4 under and reach 16-under 200. Hart (70), Bubba Watson (68) and Woody Austin (69) were tied for second.
