Allenby, Nitties lead Allenby by one

Robert Allenby and fellow Australian James Nitties shot 3-under 69s Saturday and shared the third-round lead at the Australian Open. On a day when many of the front-runners turned in high scores - Friday's co-leader Kim Felton shot 79 - Nitties and Allenby had 54-hole totals of 10-under 206, a stroke ahead of Stuart Appleby (68) on The Australian course. "I really did hit some unbelievable shots out there because it was very tricky," Allenby said.

Callaway wins patent infringement suit

Callaway Golf has won a patent infringement case against Acushnet, the maker of the popular Titleist Pro V1 ball. Callaway filed suit in June in U.S. District Court in Delaware alleging Acushnet's Titleist Pro V1 line of golf balls infringed on patents owned by Callaway. Jurors found in favor of Callaway on four of the five patents, Callaway spokeswoman Michele Szynal said Friday.

Kingston takes lead at South African Open

James Kingston shot 3-under 69 Friday to lead at the halfway stage of the ?1-million South African Open. Kingston's overall 2-under 142 kept him one stroke clear of fellow South African Andrew McLardy and Welshman Kyron Sullivan, who each shot 71 on the 7,394-yard Pearl Valley Golf Estates course. Players faced strong winds for the second straight day, while Kingston also had a strained neck.

Mixed doubles: Evert, Norman engaged

Chris Evert and Greg Norman are engaged, less than a year after divorces from longtime spouses. The couple got engaged Sunday night, said Tami Starr, director of Chris Evert Charities in Boca Raton, Fla. "They're not sure of a wedding date yet," Starr said. "They're both extremely happy they've found each other.

Hall holds one-shot lead in Dubai

Lisa Hall shot a 3-under 69 Friday to take a one-stroke lead after the second round of the season-ending Dubai Ladies Masters. Hall, with an 8-under 136 total, leads Laura Davies, who shot a 70. Overnight leader Louise Stahle had a 74, slipping into a tie for third place. Annika Sorenstam tallied her second straight 70, but Natalie Gulbis (75) made an early exit, missing the cut of 6-over 150.
