Allenby maintains one-stroke lead

Robert Allenby bogeyed his final hole but maintained a one-stroke lead in the Australian Masters with a 4-under 68 in Friday's second round. Allenby, who led by a stroke after the opening round, has a 36-hole total of 9-under 135. Fellow Australian Aaron Baddeley had the low round of the day - a 66 - to move into second place at 8 under.

McIlroy among leaders at Aussie Masters

Rory McIlroy is fast proving he's no regular rookie. The Northern Ireland teenager, playing only his sixth professional tournament, was among the Australian Masters leaders after two strong opening rounds. McIlroy, who had an impressive opening round at this year's British Open and finished as low amateur, shot a 2-under 70 on the Huntingdale course Thursday.

Dubai to host $10M tourney starting in ‘09

The world's richest golf tournament, offering $10 million in prize money, will be played in Dubai beginning in 2009. The Dubai World Championship, to be held at the Jumeirah Golf Estates, would run for five years with the option of extending it for another five years, the European Tour said Monday. The winner of the tournament receives $1.66 million, and the Order of Merit will be renamed The Race to Dubai, with the player finishing No. 1 at the end of the season receiving $2 million.

Armour III wins Pebble Beach Invitational

Tommy Armour III won the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational on Sunday, closing with a 2-under 70 for a two-stroke victory over Ronnie Black and Rocco Mediate. The 48-year-old Armour, a two-time winner on the PGA Tour, had a 16-under 272 total in the event that features both male and female players. Black shot a 68, and Mediate had a 67. Armour earned $60,000 from the $300,000 purse.

Armour shoots 65 to take control

Tommy Armour III shot a 7-under 65 on Saturday at Del Monte Golf Course to take a two-stroke lead over Nick Watney after the third round of the Callaway Golf Pebble Beach Invitational. The 48-year-old Armour, a two-time PGA Tour winner who finished 110th on the money list this season, has a 14-under 202 total. "I had a good overall round," said Armour, who began the day three strokes behind 36-hole leader Ronnie Black.

Karlsson retains 4-shot lead in Hong Kong

Sweden's Robert Karlsson retained his four-stroke lead despite dropping his first shot in 54 holes at the Hong Kong Open on Saturday. Karlsson, 38, had two bogey-free rounds before the par-four ninth and finished with a 4-under 66 at the Hong Kong Golf Club in Fanling. Karlsson had four birdies on the front nine and one more at the 14th, for a 16-under par 194 total in the tournament.

Poulter’s 67 gives him Dunlop Phoenix lead

Britain's Ian Poulter shot a 3-under-par 67 Saturday to take a two-stroke lead after the third round of the Dunlop Phoenix golf tournament. Poulter offset a lone bogey with four birdies at the par-70, 6,919-yard Phoenix Country Club for a 10-under 200. Luke Donald was two strokes back after a 66 put him at 8 under. Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano and Daisuke Maruyama are a further two strokes back at 6-under.
