Els slams European Tour for schedule clash

Ernie Els criticized the European Tour Wednesday for a scheduling issue that could cost the South African the 2007 Order of Merit title. Els, the current money leader on the European Tour, is in Singapore this week and not the season-ending Volvo Masters in Spain, where several players now have a chance to overtake him and claim the Harry Vardon trophy without a fight.

Wie skipping Casio due to hand injuries

Michelle Wie will skip the Japanese tour's Casio World Open next month as she has yet to fully recover from injuries, the tournament sponsor said Tuesday. The 18-year-old Wie went through a rough season in 2007 with injuries to both her wrists. Wie, who is in her freshman year at Stanford, had played twice in the Casio World Open, one of Japan's men's richest tournaments. She missed the cut by one stoke in 2005, and finished next-to-last in 2006 after missing the cut by 17 strokes.

Wie to skip men’s Casio World

Michelle Wie will skip the Japanese tour's Casio World Open golf tournament next month while she recovers from hand injuries. "We have concluded that it is important for her to fully recover from her hand injuries before playing to her potential," said Yuichi Miyakawa, a spokesman for tournament sponsor Casio Computer Co on Tuesday. The 18-year-old Hawaiian had tendinitis in her right wrist at the Sony Open in January and broke her left wrist in February, Miyakawa said.

Pettersen wins third tourney in October

Suzann Pettersen made up for all those lost strokes with three big shots on the Pattaya Old Course's 479-yard, par-5 finishing hole. After blowing the last of a seven-stroke lead with her second straight bogey, the Norwegian star hit a "grip-down" 3-wood from 225 yards to 15 feet to set up an eagle putt that beat Laura Davies by a stroke Sunday in the Honda LPGA Thailand. "I think that was the best putt of my life," Pettersen said.

Duo leads by one after three rounds

Robert-Jan Derksen of the Netherlands and France's Gregory Bourdy shared a one-stroke lead at the Mallorca Classic on Sunday. Derksen was one of 18 players to finish his third round on Sunday morning after bad light suspended play on Saturday. The Dutchman bogeyed the par-5 16th before recovering with back-to-back pars to finish with an even-par 70 for a 9-under total of 201 - the same as Bourdy (64) who completed his round Saturday.

Watson has one-stroke lead after 3rd round
