Stewart Ginn carded a 2-under 69 to take a one-stroke lead in the Senior British Open on Saturday with two-time champion Tom Watson a shot back.

Allan, Mallinger lead; Vijay one back

Vijay Singh patiently worked his way up the leaderboard, leaving playing partner Mike Weir behind again in the Canadian Open. The 2004 winner in a playoff with Weir, Singh shot a 6-under 65 on Friday to finish the second round a stroke behind leaders Steve Allan and John Mallinger. "The golf course isn't very difficult, but the pin placements are," said Singh, making his 10th appearance in the event.

Smyth holds one-stroke lead

Tom Watson missed a five-foot putt at the last hole and tossed away a share of the halfway lead at the Senior British Open on Friday while Nick Faldo lost his putting touch and slipped back to a share of sixth. Watson's miss at 18 for an even-par 71 handed the lead to Des Smyth, who had been holding the clubhouse lead at 2 under for more then six hours at windswept Muirfield where no player broke 70 on Friday.

Scotland, Slattery tied for lead

Englishmen Zane Scotland and Lee Slattery shared the second-round lead at the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship on Friday with 9-under 135. Scotland shot a 68 and Slattery a 69 as gusts of wind and rains produced some miserable scores by golfers. Oliver Wilson and Andres Romero, who was a surprise third at the British Open, were a stroke back at 136. However, first-round leader Simon Khan missed the cut after his 65 on Thursday was followed by an 80.

Wie finally breaks par, will make cut

Hunter Mahan had to rely on the crowd to tell him where his approach shot ended up on the ninth green Thursday in the Canadian Open. The load roar made it easy to figure out that he holed the 81-yard shot for his third eagle of the round - and second on a par-4 hole. "I was like, 'Wow! That's crazy,"' Mahan said. Faldo shoots 68 to snag share of lead

Nick Faldo shot a 3-under 68 Thursday to tie the clubhouse lead in his senior tour debut. The six-time major champion made six birdies - including a 3-foot putt at the last - in the first round of the Senior British Open at Muirfield, where he won two of his three Opens, in 1987 and '92. Joining Faldo at 3 under were 65-year-old Dave Stockton, a regular on the Champions Tour, Nick Job and Gordon J. Brand.

Khan leads early at Deutsche Bank

Simon Khan shot a 7-under 65 Thursday to lead after the first round at the Deutsche Bank Players' Championship. Khan, who failed to qualify for last week's British Open, finished a stroke ahead of two other Englishmen - Lee Slattery and Oliver Wilson. "I was really disappointed not to play in the Open," said Kahn, whose only title dates back to 2004. "I didn't watch a lot of it, I felt I was I was better off doing some practice - a lot of putting practice." The practice paid off.
