Champions Tour to follow PGA Tour policy

The Champions Tour will follow the PGA's policy on steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs. "We'll adopt whatever policies the PGA Tour does," Champions Tour president Rick George said Monday. "I certainly don't (think it's a problem). But I think if the tour adopts a policy, it's important that the Champions Tour adopt the same policy."

Sullivan wins PGA Pro National by 4 strokes

Chip Sullivan of Troutville, Va., shot a 2-under-par 70 to win the PGA Professional National Championship by four strokes on Sunday. Sullivan, who plays out of Ashley Plantation in Daleville, Va., had six birdies and four bogeys over the Crosswater Golf Club course, giving him a 6-under 281 total at Sunriver Resort. He held off Ryan Benzel, an assistant pro at Seattle Golf Club, and Mike Small, head coach at the University of Illinois. Both finished at 2-under 285.

Mahan wins first PGA title in playoff

Ochoa wins Wegmans LPGA in a playoff

Lorena Ochoa erased a three-shot deficit over the last two holes and then beat South Korean rookie In-Kyung Kim in a playoff to win the Wegmans LPGA on Sunday. The 25-year-old Mexican star closed with a 1-over-par 73 for an 8-under 280 total on the Locust Hill course and won with a par on the second playoff hole. She had eagled the par-5 17th and drew even on the last hole when Kim missed a 7-foot putt for par.

Haas takes advantage of Purtzer collapse

Jay Haas shot a final-round 66 to win the Bank of America Championship, finishing at 13-under and earning his fourth victory of the year when overnight leader Tom Purtzer collapsed on the back nine on Sunday. Purtzer took a three-stroke lead into the last day and made the turn at 12 under-par over the 6,741-yard, par-72 Nashawtuc Country Club. But the two-time runner-up bogeyed three straight holes and then double-bogeyed the par-3 17th after putting his tee shot in the water.

Fasth holds off challenge from Langer

Niclas Fasth of Sweden won the BMW International by two strokes Sunday when he held his nerve to fight off a late challenge from German veteran Bernhard Langer. Fasth shot a 2-under 70 to finish with an overall 13-under 275. Langer, who turns 50 in August, shot a final-round 67 to tie for second with Jose-Filipe Lima (72) of Portugal. Langer set the early clubhouse lead with 11-under when Fasth had five holes to play.

Harigae bests Fleet to win Public Links

Mina Harigae beat Stephany Fleet 4 and 3 Saturday to win the U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links championship. Harigae set the tone early by making crucial putts to halve the first two holes, then raced out to a big lead and spent the rest of the day holding off Fleet with excellent putting. She drained an 8-foot putt to halve the first one and a 12-footer on the second. "When those putts went in, I said 'OK, I can make any putt today,"' Harigae said. "I just tried to keep my lead.
