Ryan Palmer withdrew from the Buick Invitational on Sunday upon learning his wife was about to give birth to their first child. Palmer was at 3 under, eight shots behind the leaders, and had made par on his first three holes at Torrey Pines when he was told about his wife's situation. He headed home to Dallas, hoping to get there in time for the birth. The 30-year-old Palmer won his only PGA Tour event in 2004 at Disney.
