We guess they had to make the official announcement. But the news that Tiger Woods is the PGA Tour Player of the Year after a season that saw him win eight times including two majors is a bit on the anticlimactic side.

Australia's Nick O'Hern chipped in from a greenside bunker on the fourth hole of a playoff with Peter Lonard to win the Australian PGA on Sunday, his first major professional title since 1999.
O'Hern holed out from the sand near the 18th green to end a series of 56 top-10 finishes without a victory. It allowed him to clinch the 2006 Australasian Order of Merit. Read the Full Story Here

Alvaro Quiros shot a 5-under 67 Sunday to beat Charl Schwartzel by one stroke and win his first European Tour event at the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
The Spaniard had seven birdies and two bogeys at Leopard Creek Country Club to finish at 13-under 275 overall.
"I had a lot of luck, so I have to be happy," said Quiros, who was playing in his fourth tour event. "I don't know how to play conservatively, so I just went for it."

Charl Schwartzel shot his third successive 68 Saturday to take a two-stroke lead into the final round of the Alfred Dunhill Championship.
His 12-under total of 204 had him two shots clear of European Ryder Cup player Lee Westwood and Welshman Mark Pilkington. They shot rounds of 67 and 65 respectively at the ?1-million European Tour event being played at the par-72, 6,631-meter (7,672-yard) Leopard Creek Country Club.

Schwartzel his a second-round 4-under 68 at the ?1-million European Tour event being played at the par-72, 6,631-meter (7,672-yard) Leopard Creek Country Club. He was 8-under overall.
