Jim Thorpe stayed steady while the other contenders lurched up and down the leaderboard Saturday, finishing the third round of the Charles Schwab Cup Championship with a two-stroke lead over Jay Haas, Tom Kite and Loren Roberts.
Thorpe parlayed four straight birdies after the turn into a 5-under 67, leaving him two shots ahead of second-round leader Kite - as well as Haas and Roberts, the Champions Tour's top two players throughout the season. Read the Full Story Here

The race for Europe's season money title, led by Paul Casey, is coming down to 18 holes.
No. 2 Padraig Harrington, No. 3 David Howell and No. 4 Robert Karlsson are all within four shots of Volvo Masters leader Jeev Milkha Singh after Saturday's third round, knowing the only sure clincher is a victory.

Annika Sorenstam shot her second straight 4-under 68 on Saturday to increase her lead to seven strokes after the third round of the European Ladies Tour's season-ending Dubai Ladies Masters.
The top-ranked Swede had a 15-under 201 total on the Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course. Australia's Karrie Webb was second after a 70, and European Solheim Cup captain Helen Alfredsson of Sweden was 7 under after a 68. Read the Full Story Here

The race for European golf's season money title is wide open after Friday's second round of the season-ending Volvo Masters.
Paul Casey, who entered the final event at Valderrama with a €218,185 (US $274,080) lead over No. 2 Padraig Harrington, was 10 shots behind tournament leader Henrik Stenson after Friday's 1-over-72.
Casey opened with a disastrous 76, but still may have the edge.
Harrington shot 69 to go with an opening 73, leaving him four behind Stenson.

K.J. Choi took double bogey and called it a good experience. He nearly made an ace on what he called a bad shot. It added up to a 5-under 66 for a one-shot lead in the Chrysler Championship on a wild Friday.
Along with solid play from Ernie Els, relief for Paul Azinger and agony for Brian Bateman, was a police chase in the middle of the second round as officers with guns drawn sought a pair of juveniles accused of burglarizing a nearby house.

Three-time Canadian Amateur champion Richard Scott birdied his final hole to help Canada take a one-stroke lead over the United States after the second round of the Eisenhower Trophy on Friday.
Scott finished with a 4-under 68 on the De Zalze course to share the individual lead at 7 under with the United States' Chris Kirk, a former teammate at the University of Georgia. Kirk shot a 66 on the Stellenbosch course.
Andrew Parr had a 71 and James Love added a 75.

Two juvenile burglary suspects led police on a chase through the woods and part of the Copperhead course Friday during the Chrysler Championship.
One of the suspects was caught, and authorities were searching for the other.
"Never had a manhunt out here," Brian Gay said after a 71 left him one shot out of the lead.
Gay was tied when he approached the third tee, then backed off his shot when he heard the commotion.

First Phil Mickelson ... now Tiger Woods? The Tour Championship lost a little more luster Friday as Woods announced he would be taking a cue from Lefty and bypassing the PGA Tour's season-ending event.

Annika Sorenstam shot a 4-under 68 Friday and led by five strokes halfway through the Dubai Ladies Masters.
The top-ranked Swede was at 11-under 133 after two rounds. Karrie Webb (68) was at 138. Sophie Sandolo (71), Trish Johnson (67) and Tania Elosegui Mayor (70) were at 139.
"I haven't thought about the next two days," Sorenstam said. "I'm happy to be 11 under and I played well. I think I've been putting well overall.

Mickey Wright, whom many consider to be the greatest female golfer in history, has been diagnosed with breast cancer and was having surgery Friday, The Palm Beach Post reported on its Web site.
Longtime manager Peggy Wilson said the 71-year-old Wright had a mammogram on Oct. 10 that revealed a cloudy spot on her right breast. More tests showed that it was cancer.
"They got her in surgery as quick as they could," Wilson told the newspaper. "They're going to do a lumpectomy.
