Larry Nelson was either in the jungle or a rice paddy during his two years in the Vietnam War, enough time to learn the difference between a land leech and a water leech. Vijay Singh toiled in the rain forest of Borneo, giving golf lessons for $10 and spending every free minute working on his game.
Both took an unimaginable route to one of golf's greatest honors Monday night when they were inducted into the World Golf Hall of Fame, a celebration of blue-collar success.

Jim Thorpe won the Charles Schwab Cup Championship with supremely steady play down the stretch Sunday.
And Loren Roberts lost $500,000 with one big hiccup.
Thorpe rallied in the final holes to stay on top of a tight field with a 4-under 68 in the Champions Tour's season-ending event, cruising to a two-stroke victory over Tom Kite and his second win at Sonoma Golf Club in four years.

Well, maybe not everybody. But there was more than one winner at the Chrysler Championship Sunday. K.J. Choi won the tournament, Ernie Els made the Tour Championship cut and Paul Goydos will be keeping his Tour card.

Former Georgia Tech star Bryce Molder won his first professional title Sunday, closing with a 3-under 68 for a one-stroke victory over Boo Weekley in the Miccosukee Championship - the Nationwide Tour's final full-field event of the year.
The 27-year-old Molder had at 14-under 270 total and earned $90,000 to jump from 49th to 21st on the money list with $202,957 with only the Nationwide Tour Championship left. The top 22 players at the end of the season will earn PGA Tour cards.

Annika Sorenstam shot a 3-under 68 Sunday to win the Dubai Ladies Masters by six strokes.
The top-ranked Swede, who led the entire tournament, had four birdies in the final round to finish at 18-under 270 on the Emirates Golf Club's Majlis Course. Helen Alfredsson (67) was second at 276, followed by Karrie Webb (70) at 278.
Sorenstam entered the final round of the European Ladies Tour's season-ending event with a seven-stroke lead.

Jeev Milkha Singh shot a 1-over 72 Sunday to win the Volvo Masters and Padraig Harrington won the European Order of Merit title after finishing in a three-way tie for second place.
Singh finished at 2-under 284, one stroke better than Harrington (69), Sergio Garcia (72) and Luke Donald (69).
Harrington is the fifth player since 1993 to capture Europe's money title.
Harrington's $379,546 in prize money put him ahead of Paul Casey by $44,985.

K.J. Choi made a 10-foot birdie putt on the 18th hole to finish the third round of the Chrysler Championship the same way he started, with a one-shot lead over Ernie Els and two others. Will Besseling shot a 7-under 65 on Saturday to help the Netherlands take a two-stroke lead over the United States, Canada and Wales after the third round of the World Amateur Team Championship.
Joost Luiten added a 70 to give the Netherlands a 15-under 417 total. Tim Sluiter shot a 75, with only the top two scores counting in the team total.
Chris Kirk and Trip Kuehne had 70s for the United States, the three-time defending Eisenhower Trophy champion and 13-time winner overall. Read the Full Story Here
