Tiger wins fourth straight tournament

A week after running away from the field for his 12th major title, Tiger Woods needed four extra holes on Sunday to beat Stewart Cink and win the World Golf Championships-Bridgestone Invitational in a playoff. It's Tiger's fourth straight win.

Davies wins SAS Masters by 6 strokes

Laura Davies of England won the SAS Masters by six strokes Sunday, making two eagles in a final round of 4-under-par 68. She finished at 11-under 205 for the 54-hole tournament at Bogstad, a parkland course that is Norway's oldest. It was her 67th career title and record-35th on the Ladies European Tour. Davies, who won the 2002 Norwegian Masters on the same course, eagled the second and 15th holes. She also had five birdies.

Wadkins and Nielsen share at The Tradition

Bobby Wadkins and Lonnie Nielsen shared a one-stroke lead going into Sunday's final round of The Tradition, the season's final major on the Champions Tour. Wadkins shot a 71 Saturday for an 11-under 205 after the first three rounds on the par-72, 7,150-yard course at the Reserve Vineyards and Golf Club west of Portland. Wadkins missed a 6-foot par putt on the 18th to drop a stroke, and Nielsen made a 5-foot par putt to finish with a 68 and grab a share of the lead.

Estes, MacKenzie share lead

PGA Tour veteran Bob Estes thinks his experience might give him an edge over co-leader Will MacKenzie heading into the final round of the Reno-Tahoe Open. MacKenzie, still looking for his first victory in his second year on tour, thinks he might want it a little more. "It's tough to win out here," said MacKenzie, who shot his second straight 67 on Saturday to get to 19-under 197. "It's the dream.

Double aces may also have happened in 1955

Yusaku Miyazato's two holes-in-one at the Reno-Tahoe Open on Friday may not have been the only time player has carded a pair of aces in the same round in PGA Tour history. Tour officials said on Friday the feat was the first in modern history, which they count as post-1970, and that they could not find any record of it ever happening. But tour spokesman Todd S. Budnick said a newspaper reporter in Connecticut contacted tour officials on Saturday to tell them it happened back in 1955.

PGA Tour offering Reno-Tahoe an extension

The PGA Tour is offering the Reno-Tahoe Open a four-year contract extension that would keep the tournament running at least through 2010, and tournament director Jim Kline said Saturday he expects to have the deal sealed within a month.

Tiger stumbles at Bridgestone

Tiger Woods was rolling along Saturday at the Bridgestone Invitational and then something strange happened: the world's No. 1 player bogeyed four straight holes and lost his lead. Tiger was able to regroup, but sits a stroke back of the leader, Stewart Cink, heading into Sunday.

Ochoa takes 2-shot lead at Wendy’s

Lorena Ochoa shot an 8-under 64 Saturday to take a two-shot lead heading into the final round of the Wendy's Championship for Children. The 24-year-old from Guadalajara, Mexico, is trying to win for the third time this year. She also has five seconds, a third, two fourths and a fifth-place finish in 17 starts. She stands at 17-under 199 heading into the final round, which will start early to avoid a predicted thunderstorm on Sunday afternoon.

Tiger vaults into lead at Bridgestone

Miyazato aces 2 holes in same round

Yusaku Miyazato doesn't speak much English so his caddie helped serve as a translator after the Japanese golfer became the first player to make two holes-in-one in the same round on the PGA Tour. But when it came to a question about his plans for celebrating Friday night, the 26-year-old from Tokyo understood just fine. "Drink much beer. Big party," he said with a wide smile. Miyazato accomplished the unprecedented feat on a pair of par 3s at the Reno-Tahoe Open.
